Event Description

The training will review the various attachment styles and what a baby needs to have a secure base and what is needed to provide that base for the child and how media can interrupt that bond. 


Learning Objectives:

1. The Participant will be able to understand the nature of a parent child bond and its importance to the child to have that connection.

2.      The participant will understand how different behaviors impact that bond with their child.

3.     The participant will be able to discuss the research on how looking at a screen rather than the infant can disrupt the bond they develop with the child.

4.     The participant will gain an understanding and knowledge of behaviors that help develop a strong infant/parent bond that will benefit the child during their lifetime.

Dr. Nichols is a Licensed Psychologist and graduate of the University of Kansas with a doctoral degree with a specialty in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology.  She has been certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology since 2004.  She has served on the American Psychological Association Board for certifying graduate programs and served on the Behavioral Science Regulatory Board for licensing psychologists.  She has specialized training in the diagnosis and treatment for Autism, anxiety, depression and disruptive behavior disorders.    Dr. Nichols has published articles in professional journals and has presented at numerous conferences.
