Sexual Exploitation: How to Spot It & Stop It

Robert Shoop is a professor emertis at Kansas State University, an educational law expert, former Senior Scholar in Leadership Studies, Founding Director of the Cargill Center for Ethical Leadership, and a nationally recognized forensic expert in the area of school law, with a focus on sexual harassment, abuse prevention and risk management.

He has appeared as a guest on national television programs such as: “360 with Anderson Cooper,” “The Today Show,” “Day and Date,” ABC’s “20/20,” ESPN’s “Outside the Lines with Bob Ley,” and Fox News. He is the president of Quality Work Environments Inc., where he serves as a consultant to school districts, universities, and corporations on the standards of care and harassment and abuse prevention. He has served as a forensic expert in more than 100 school-related sexual exploitation cases. His work has been featured in numerous newspapers and popular magazines worldwide including The London Times, New York Times, USA Today, Education Week, Reader’s Digest, Rolling Stone and Oprah’s “O” Magazine. He has produced video programs that have received national and international recognition.

Shoop has received Kansas State University’s Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Aware and the College of Education’s Outstanding Graduation Teaching Award, and has written 20 textbooks and more than 100 journal articles, monographs and book chapters. His first novel “Compulsion” was published in 2011. “Compulsion” is a novel about a child who was sexually abused by her teacher. Shoop believes that his fictional portrayal of sexual abuse of students by teachers is accurate due to his years of experience on these cases. He hopes that his suspense novel will not only entertain readers, but also shed light on a serious problem in school systems today.
